Hopscotch: Tell us a bit about your situation now and what led you to this region.
Candace: I left university with a degree in psychology and moved to Dubai to pursue my Masters in Human Resources. Even before the move, Dubai has always been a familiar place as my father has been working here. After being here for four years now, I am certain that Dubai is the perfect playground to attain international exposure. It’s great meeting individuals with varied cultural backgrounds – it’s fair to say that this cultural diversity also gave me a chance to experience variations in business approaches and management styles. From an HR perspective Dubai, for me, is the best place to be.
H: What do you love about your chosen field of HR?
C: In 2015, I took up a job which gave me an opportunity to be a part of the management team for a start-up company. It was here that I got a chance to wear different hats: from HR, administration, marketing to strategic planning. Today my role is more specific to HR, I work within recruitment, employee management, performance management, HR development and administration. I absolutely enjoy my current field, I believe it allows me to shape an organization from within and influence its core element – its employees. Being 26 years of age, I believe it's the prime time for me to shape my career, I've tasted various fields and I am now excited to take a step forward in field of HR.
H: Describe your dream job to us.
C: I absolutely enjoy working in the HR field, my ideal job would align with this. Engaging in various activities is very important for me. At the moment I am enrolled with Eton for language classes. I also train in Latin dance forms and participate in various voluntary activities. Consequently, a job that has good work-life integration would suit me the best. I am also passionate about traveling, a job that encompasses this, would be the cherry on the cake.
